There are several sustainability and environmentally-focused student organizations on campus. Here are short descriptions of organizations we’ve partnered with in the past. For current students, more information can be found on ConnQuest.
Conn C.A.R.E.S. (Connecticut College Animal Rights and Equality Society)
Conn CARES advocates on behalf of all non-human animals through education and reform by creating a safe-space community for those interested in ameliorating animal suffering and by providing resources for both living and sustaining a cruelty-free lifestyle.
Oceana
Oceana is a campus chapter of the international organization dedicated to marine conservation. This organization holds activities such as beach cleanups, fim screenings and an annual Reduce Your Use campaign each spring.
Roosevelt @ Connecticut College
The Roosevelt Institute, working to redefine the rules that guide our social and economic realities, is home to the nation’s largest network of emerging doers and thinkers committed to re-imagining and re-writing the rules in their communities to create lasting change. Its members, organizing on 120 college campuses and in 38 states nationwide, partner with policymakers and communicators to provide them with clear, principled ideas and visionary, actionable plans.
Spokespeople
If you’d like a bike to use on campus, you can rent one from Spokespeople for the semester. This group fixes up donated and abandoned bicycles and then loans them out to students for a $50 deposit each semester.
They also coordinate CC Cruisers, a short-term bike rental program. If you just need a bike for a few hours or a day, you can check one out from the circulation desk at Shain Library.
