Alumni talk and panel to explore careers in finance

Connecticut College will host a career lecture and panel discussion in which alumni working in the field of finance will share their experiences. “The Road to Wall Street: How to Navigate a Career in the World Of Finance” will take place on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 4:30 p.m. in Ernst Common Room of Blaustein Humanities Center.

Fritz Folts ’82, senior managing director at Windhaven Investment Management and a trustee of the College, who will share his expertise and advice in a keynote address, to be followed by a panel discussion comprising four young alumni:
• Ethan Powell ’04, vice president at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.
• Peter Lelek ’05, director at BlackRock Financial Management
• Lauren Luciano ’03, recruiter at MFS Investment Management
• Aminata Ly ’11, investment banking analyst at J.P. Morgan

The talk will be helpful to those considering a career in the financial sector, including students at the College, who will learn how to use the broad and rigorous liberal arts education they receive to break into the industry.

“The Road to Wall Street panel is a fantastic opportunity for students interested in learning more about the potential careers in finance to network with alumni who possess a breadth of experience in the industry,” says Adi Harnal '13, a member of the Peggotty Investment Club who initiated the event. “Students will gain an insight into how an invaluable liberal arts education at Connecticut College can be combined with a practical application of hard and soft skills to a remarkably challenging and fast-paced industry.”
