Connecticut College will celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with a talk by Don Denard of The Carter Center on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 4:30 p.m. in Harkness Chapel.
Denard is a committed activist and the associate director of finance at the Carter Center, a charitable organization founded by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter to advance peace and health worldwide.
“Connecticut College is pleased to welcome Don Denard as the speaker for our commemorations of Martin Luther King,” said Claudia Highbaugh, dean of religious and spiritual life. “We are honored to have the perspective of a ‘60s activist who worked in the civil rights movement in the era of Dr. King and maintains activism and working in a global context for the Carter Center in Atlanta. We look forward to hearing of his firsthand experience and the challenges of a vocation working for justice in the 21st century.”
