onStage at Connecticut College presents 'Radio Macbeth' April 1

onStage at Connecticut College presents the SITI Company's "Radio Macbeth," Friday, April 1, at 8 p.m. in Palmer Auditorium. Co-directed by Anne Bogart and Darron L. West, "Radio Macbeth" takes its audience to a late-night Macbeth rehearsal in the guts of an abandoned theater. As the actors work through Shakespeare's briefest and perhaps most magnetic play, the ghosts of all previous productions hover and encroach.

The spirits of ambition, violence, fortune, fate, free will, hubris, vengeance, pride, indecision, paradox, the eternal male-female conflict and madness flicker and glow, while the actors cling desperately to the sanity of words. "The SITI Company is one of the most innovative theater companies in the United States," Robert Richter, director of arts programming at Connecticut College, said. "The audience will love this fresh take on an old classic."

Founded in 1992, the SITI Company began as an agreement to redefine and revitalize contemporary theater in the United States through an emphasis on international cultural exchange and collaboration. The company is known nationally and internationally as a top-level artistic collective that generates groundbreaking theater while training artists from around the world. Tickets are $28, 24, 20 for general admission; $25, 21.50, 18 for seniors and $14, 12, 10 for students.
