‘Writers Helping Writers’ with alumna author Hannah Tinti April 17
Hannah Tinti, author of the recently published “The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley,” will be hosted by the English Department at two free events on Monday, April 17. “Writers Helping Writers” includes a public conversation from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and a public reading from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Ernst Common Room, Blaustein Humanities Center.
Tinti is a 1994 graduate of Connecticut College. Tinti will be joined in conversation with her former English professor, Blanche Boyd, who is writer-in-residence at the College.
Tinti’s short story collection, “Animal Crackers,” was a runner up for the PEN/Hemingway Award, and her bestselling novel, “The Good Thief,” won the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize , an American Library Association Alex Award, and was named a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. Her new novel, “The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley,” published in March, 2017, has received critical acclaim. It has been chosen as a Book to Watch in 2017 by Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, and the Boston Globe, and was called “A master class in literary suspense,” by The Washington Post.
Tinti is also the co-founder and editor-in-chief of the award-winning literary magazine One Story.
