Connecticut College's onStage Guest Artist Series completes its 2018-19 season with "Star-Spangled Banner Fractured" by Donal Fox, piano, and Quincy Troupe, poet, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29, in Evans Hall. In a special additional event, Quincy Troupe will read from his work and engage in a discussion with Charles Hartman, Connecticut College's Poet in Residence and co-director of the College's writing program, and Hubert Cook, assistant professor of English, on Thursday, March 28, at 4:30 p.m. at the Ernest Common Room in Blaustein Humanities Center.

The two are reuniting for the first time since Fox's 1997 album Gone City (New World Records) with a new collaboration, "Star Spangled Banner Fractured." The program is a vehicle to inspire, educate and fuel dialogue in the critical fight for social justice in America.

Internationally acclaimed as a composer, pianist and improviser, Fox fuses jazz, Afro-Latin and classical idioms into intricate new works and electrifying performances. Among his many accolades, Fox has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Bugliaso Fellowship and an Academy Award in Music from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Troupe is the author of 22 books, including 12 volumes of poetry and three children's books. His awards include the Paterson Award for Sustained Literary Achievement, three American Book Awards and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History Award in 2018.

Tickets for the performance are $22 general admission, $20 for seniors, $11 for students and are available online or by calling the box office at 860-439-2787.
