Connecticut College’s onStage Guest Artist Series will feature Kittel & Co. for a performance during Fall Weekend at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 in Evans Hall.

Grammy Award-nominated violinist and composer Jeremy Kittel’s music inhabits the space between classical and acoustic roots, Celtic and bluegrass aesthetics and folk and jazz sensibilities. Kittel & Co. includes mandolin phenom Josh Pinkham, genre-bending guitarist Quinn Bachand and transcendent cellist Nathaniel Smith. Their most recent album, “Whorls,” is an original work referring to patterns of spirals, which is a metaphor for the undulation between the outsize skills and free-spirited instincts that drive its sound. It premiered at No. 1 on the Billboard bluegrass charts.

In addition to his performances, Jeremy Kittel has composed and arranged for artists such as Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble and the Grammy-winning Turtle Island Quartet, a group he performed with for five years. Kittel is the recipient of awards including the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship, six Detroit Music Awards and was the first recipient of the Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin.

Tickets are $22 for general admission, $20 for seniors and $11 for students and are available online or by calling the box office at 860-439-2787.
