onStage Presents A Far Cry Chamber Orchestra

A Far Cry
A Far Cry

Connecticut College’s onStage Guest Artist Series continues with the Grammy-nominated, self-conducted string orchestra A Far Cry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, in Evans Hall.

Since its founding in 2007, the chamber orchestra has developed a distinct approach to music-making, with playing and programming that encourage risk-taking and exploration for both player and audience. Over the past year, A Far Cry has risen to the top of Billboard’s Traditional Classical Chart, been named Boston’s best classical ensemble by The Improper Bostonian, and celebrated two Grammy nominations for its Visions and Variations. A Far Cry has collaborated with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Simone Dinnerstein, the Silk Road Ensemble and David Krakauer. The program for this concert at Connecticut College, entitled “Memory,” includes work by Arvo Part, W.A. Mozart, Edward Elgar and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

Tickets are $26 for general admission, $23 for seniors and $13 for students and are available online or by calling the box office at 860-439-2787.
