David Smalley sculpture walking tour Oct. 18
Join Barbara Zabel, Professor Emeritus of Art History and guest curator of the David Smalley Memorial Exhibition at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum for a tour of David Smalley sculptures exhibited on the campus landscape of Connecticut College and the grounds of the Lyman Allyn Art Museum, on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 5 to 6 p.m.
Artist and New London native David Smalley (1940-2015), pioneered the use of computer technology as a tool for creating sculpture and founded the Center for Arts and Technology at Connecticut College, where he taught studio art for more than three decades. His specialties were sculpture; virtual reality and multimedia design; and 3-D design, computer modeling and animation.
Several of David's colleagues will join Zabel to add their thoughts about the sculptures and their work with Smalley.
Participants should meet at the Ad Astra Garden at the north side of Tempel Green. The tour is free and registration is not required.
