Connecticut College’s East Asian Languages and Cultures Department Welcome Motoko Dworkin

Connecticut College’s East Asian Languages and Cultures Department has invited Motoko Dworkin, an award-winning theatrical storyteller, to perform at 5 p.m. on Weds., Oct. 30 at Cummings Arts Center in Oliva Hall. 

Motoko’s repertoire includes Asian folktales, Rakugo and Zen tales, ghost stories, mime vignettes, and oral memoirs from her childhood. She will be performing “Radiant: Stories from Fukushima,” a one-woman play based on events following the Fukushima disaster of 2011 in Japan. She portrays the struggles of three women in the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis.

There will be a Q&A session with Motoko and light refreshments following the performance at 6:15 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, please email rlevy1@conncoll.edu
