Award-winning alumna to direct ‘bobrauschenbergamerica’
An award-winning director who has helmed productions on Broadway and around the country, Kimberly Senior ’95 returns to the College to direct a play inspired by the late artist Robert Rauschenberg, “bobrauschenbergamerica,” with performances on Nov. 17 and 18, at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 18 and 19, at 2 p.m., in Tansill Theater.
Presented by the Theater Department, and written by Charles L. Mee, the play has been described by the The New York Times as a “series of short, smart, and imaginative skits that explore, in hilarious and profound ways, the world of relationships and the realities of the universe.”
A collaged landscape derived of nostalgia and Americana; isolation and connection—in a play made as one of America’s greatest artists, Robert Rauschenberg, might have conceived it if he had been a playwright instead of a painter, “bobrauschenbergamerica” is a collage of people and places and music and dancing, of love stories and picnics and business schemes and shootings and chicken jokes and golfing, and of the sheer exhilaration of living in a country where people make up their lives as they go.
