Nominations open for Athletic Hall of Fame
In March the Hall will induct its 2014 class, consisting of Kate Kovenock ’05 (swimming and diving), Michael Moccia ’89 (ice hockey), Tom Burke ’81 (lacrosse, soccer, squash) and Caroline Twomey Gilbert ’86 (field hockey, lacrosse). Activist to offer critical assessment of the LGBT movement
On Monday, Dec. 9, the College’s LGBTQ Resource Center will present a talk by LGBT activist Urvashi Vaid titled “Real Progress, Real Problems: A Critical Look at the LGBT Movement.” Vaid has been a leader in the LGBT movement for 30 years and is currently director of the Engaging Tradition Project at Columbia Law School. The free event will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Ernst Common Room of the Blaustein Humanities Center.
Also at the event, the LGBTQ center will thank President Higdon for his leadership and initiatives over the past seven years to make the College a more inclusive place for LGBTQ students. Students will also premiere their video for the “You Can Play Project" promoting acceptance of LGBTQ athletes on College athletic teams.
