Kevin Kelly '14 is one of 334 rising seniors completing paid internships this summer. Connecticut College's comprehensive career development program provides every student a stipend of up to $3,000 for a career-related internship between junior and senior year.

They are at zoos and in hospitals, in high-rise office buildings in New York City and in dirt-floor huts in developing countries. This summer, 334 rising seniors – 76 percent of the class – are completing paid internships in nearly every sector and around the world. (Scroll down for the full list).

Connecticut College has one of the most comprehensive funded internship programs in the country, providing every student a stipend of up to $3,000 for a career-related internship between junior and senior year. The internship is part of a four-year career preparation program that focuses on helping students connect their liberal arts majors to professional opportunities and graduate study.

Career counselors from the College’s office of Career Enhancing Life Skills CELS introduce the four-year program of workshops and individual coaching during new-student orientation. Students are assigned an individual counselor who will work with them throughout their four years to identify their interests, hone their resumes, secure an appropriate internship, prepare for interviews and segue as smoothly as possible into post-college life.

The CELS program was founded in 1999, and participation has grown steadily since then. In a recent survey, 88 percent of graduates since 2008 reported participating in the program, and the majority of those credited CELS with helping them prepare for their first job or graduate school.  They gave highest marks to the internship component and the highly personalized support provided by CELS counselors.
