Star gazing for all ages at Connecticut College April 24

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Connecticut College is celebrating National Astronomy Day with telescopic star and planet viewing, planetarium shows and activities for all ages, Saturday, April 24, from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Connecticut College´s Olin Science Center.
This event is free and open to the public. Star gazing will be limited or canceled in the event of inclement weather.
Guests of all ages are invited to enjoy binocular and telescopic views of the moon, the ringed planet Saturn, Mars, the beautiful Great Nebula in Orion and more. The event will also feature spring and summer constellation planetarium shows, hands-on astronomy activities for children, astronomy story-telling and video and computer demonstrations of astronomy software. At 8 and 9 p.m., R.M. Maxwell, manager of the Treworgy Planetarium at the Mystic Seaport, will give an interactive talk, "Celestial Navigation for Beginners."
This event is hosted by the Connecticut College Department of Physics, Astronomy and Geophysics, the Thames Amateur Astronomical Society, the Children´s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut and the Treworgy Planetarium at the Mystic Seaport.
