Be there! Undefeated lacrosse takes on Tufts tomorrow04/15/2010

On Saturday the undefeated Connecticut College men’s lacrosse team will host the only other undefeated team in the NESCAC -- Tufts.
Both are in the middle of their longest winning streak in school history.
The eighth-ranked Camels (11-0) and the sixth-ranked Jumbos (10-0) will clash in a 1 p.m. game at Freeman Field on Tempel Green.
The explosive Tufts offense has put up 13.6 goals per game. Connecticut College’s stingy defense has surrendered just seven goals per game and will be tested against a potent offensive attack.
The surging Camels are on a mission to reach the NCAA Championship Tournament.
For Connecticut College Head Coach Dave Cornell, the 2010 season has been meticulously broken down into 11 chapters. The mantra is simple and clearly understood from player 1-35. There is only one thing more important than the game that has been played, and that’s the next one.
The leadership the senior class has brought to the table has proved to be invaluable in the team’s rise in the regional and national rankings. Senior tri-captains Steve Dachille, Sean Driscoll and Will Schumann have conveyed the message to their teammates -- the winning will take care of itself if everyone is committed to doing what is asked of them.
Cornell has benefitted from the assistance of his coaching staff, including former USILA All-America Topher Grossman ’05, in his third season as assistant coach with his alma mater.
Cornell appreciates the support the loyal alumni have provided for the team.
“I’m really excited for the alumni. I know that they are very proud to be Camels right now,” he said. “Hopefully, we can keep winning for them.”
While the team is excited about Saturday’s game, they have already accomplished a lot and have much more to look forward to in the weeks that lie ahead. The Camels will be hosting a NESCAC Championship Quarterfinal game May 2.
That will be a day that everyone at the College can look forward to with anticipation.
