Research

The overarching philosophy in the sciences at Connecticut College is that teaching and research with undergraduate students is one unified activity.

You'll develop important skills such as critical analysis, experimental design, and teamwork that enable you to make valuable contributions through your research. Many students have earned co-authorship with their faculty mentors on publications in scientific journals.

Most students take advantage of the many opportunities to do original research with faculty mentors during the academic year and the summer. In the chemistry department, summer research students are funded through a variety of sources, including individual faculty grants, the Keck Foundation summer fellowship program, Bristol Myers Squibb and Pfizer-sponsored research fellowships.

Faculty research has received strong support from numerous funding sources, such as the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Research Corporation, Petroleum Research Fund, Dreyfus Foundation, and the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
