CISLA Travel Grants

Making possible student travel and faculty research

Student Research Travel Grants

Through the generosity of several donors, CISLA now has an endowed fund that enables us to solicit proposals from qualified seniors for one of the following purposes:

  • to return to the site of their internships to continue research and effectively complete their senior integrative project (SIP);
  • to attend a domestic or international conference related to their research; or
  • to travel to a site where they can access primary material related to their Senior Integrated Project (SIP)

Faculty Research Travel Grants

Each semester CISLA puts out a request for prososals for faculty to apply for supplemental funds to cover international travel that is not covered by the R.F. Johnson Fund, a travel and research fund for faculty. CISLA must rely on many faculty members to advise our students and to work with them for their senior integrative projects. These small grants are a way of giving back to the faculty for its generous cooperation with the program.

Faculty were asked to submit proposals stating the purpose and location of the trip as well as a budget including the amount received from the R.F. Johnson Fund. Five were funded in the fall of 2008 and six in the spring of 2009.
